I found a great Photoshop template to make a family calendar 2017 CD jewel case calendar template. This makes a fun, frugal homemade Christmas/holiday gift idea using a jewel case. For my 2013 calendar template, I featured all the members of the family in one calendar. My husband was great and printed out all the pictures, and the kids and I cut them out and inserted them into CD jewel cases. You can find CD or DVD jewel cases (if you don’t already have a hundred of them lying around) at any office supply store, right near the blank CD’s.
I was lucky enough that I had 12 members of the family, to feature for the 12 months of the year, but I made a rule that the youngest get displayed first and the oldest get bumped. We had enough people, but the youngest are the most important for photographs, right?
This calendar is really cool because it fits inside of a CD jewel cases, which is a great way to recycle all those awful cases. The best part is that you can flip the CD case around and it can display propped up. I also added a bunch of holiday music. Amazon loves to give away all sorts of free holiday music this time of year
, so head over there to grab some. If you are diligent, you can score all the songs on your CD for free.
Honestly, I don’t think that this CD calendar will be good enough as just an “as-is” present, but if you top it off with a few extra homemade gifts, you are all set to go!

Let me know what you think. Would you like to give this CD Calendar?
My mom gives us a family calendar each year. It’s a great gift!
That’s good to know, maybe our family will appreciate mine as much as you do yours.
I made a calendar in a jewel case and decorated with scrapbook paper. I hadn’t thought of photos.
That’s a good idea too!
I love the idea of putting a calendar in a jewel case. I never would have thought of that. Thanks!
You’re welcome! 🙂
I love making family calendars and giving them to grandparents as gifts.
This year, I made them for everyone in my family. I might just do the same next year … but that will be one of two gifts (this plus a homemade something else). Haven’t decided yet.
I think this is a really cute idea. Especially the part about utilizing the CD cases!
Don’t you have like a hundred lying around from when we used to buy CDs? I do!!
