Felt Artwork

Felt Artwork

A very creative woman named Elles over at Misusu created this stylish applique on a baby top. This is an awesome addition, but it looks like a lot of work even for baby.  I can’t wait to try it out on a top!  I loved this so much that I added her blog to my blog list as well as my RSS feeder. Repurposing (Upcycled) Fashion Clothing: Adding a Little Fringe to Your Boots

Repurposing (Upcycled) Fashion Clothing: Adding a Little Fringe to Your Boots

We found this great fringe at JoAnn’s. Liz immediately fell in love with it and asked to attach it to her boots. Even though it isn’t really upcycling (more like decorating), I still dig the creativity. Here is the “before boot.” She added the fringe with the glue gun. I didn’t have to tell her to start the fringe at the back. The only problem with the fringe is that it frayed pretty easily, so she needed to secure it with the glue. I think she did a great job. Here she is showing off her new stash. Pretty cool, … Continue Reading →
DIY Galaxy Jeans

DIY Galaxy Jeans

These crazy and wonderful jeans were created by Noémie at The Sun Was High.  They would be super slammin’ for a New Year’s Eve party, plus casual enough so they are comfy too.  She calls them her Galaxy Jeans.  I attempted at making such a pair with an old black denim jean skirt, but mine didn’t come out very well so I had to scrap it.  I think it was the fabric paint that I used.  (In a word, the fabric paint stunk.) Homemade Sugar Scrub

Homemade Sugar Scrub

Cheryl over at Tidy Mom has a great little homemade sugar scrub recipe for all of us if you are looking for another last minute holiday gift idea. This looks like it would be a really nifty gift if you have a lot of glass jars lying about, like I do.  I never want to recycle the jars … in case I need them … but they take up sooooo much room.  Well, here is a great way to get rid of them. 10 Homemade Holiday Gifts That Don’t Completely Suck

10 Homemade Holiday Gifts That Don’t Completely Suck

Here is a list of 10 homemade, frugal Christmas/Holiday gift ideas that don’t suck (at least I hope that you will agree)!  For an added bonus (#11!), here is a free jewel case 2013 calendar template in Photoshop that you might like too. I think the worst part of those homemade gift ideas is that you look like a total cheapo.  I mean, you really are cheap if you are considering making your own holiday gifts, but that doesn’t mean that you should look like one.  Try one these gifts.  Shhh.  It will be our secret that you really are Scrooge. … Continue Reading →

Homemade Hand Cream

Homemade Hand Cream

Welcome, Pinners! See my updated version of homemade lotion here. For those of you who need a last minute holiday gift, Judy over at Patchwork Times has a great post about making some homemade hand cream. I really like the simplicity of the cream, and I tried it out and she is right! It does make your tootsies feel really good. For those of you skeptical about buying all sorts of odd items, don’t be afraid. You can snag everything from a regular drugstore. The most different item that you will need is the Vitamin E Oil, which you could … Continue Reading →
Homemade Baby Wipes

Homemade Baby Wipes

Betsy over at DIYNaturals made these Homemade Baby Wipes that I really like. This is a really useful idea even if you do not have a baby because our house uses lots of baby wipes for various things, like cleaning off TV and computer screens, wiping off feet, and even personal usage.  I went around and collected those awesome plastic Folgers coffee buckets to use as the “out” bucket, and used up an old baby wipes tub as the “in” bucket.  Score! Family Calendar Gifts – 2013 Jewel Case Template

Family Calendar Gifts – 2013 Jewel Case Template

I found a great Photoshop template to make a family calendar.  This makes a fun, frugal homemade Christmas/holiday gift idea using a jewel case.  For my 2013 calendar template, I featured all the members of the family in one calendar.  My husband was great and printed out all the pictures, and the kids and I cut them out and inserted them into CD jewel cases.  You can find CD or DVD jewel cases (if you don’t already have a hundred of them lying around) at any office supply store, right near the blank CD’s. I was lucky enough that I … Continue Reading →
